Çağatay Karaaslan is a Professor at Hacettepe University, Department of Molecular Biology.
He completed his master's degree in 2003 and his Ph.D. in 2010 at Hacettepe University's Department of Molecular Biology. The current laboratory team of Karaaslan consists of 4 Ph.D. students and 6 MSc students. Prof.Karaaslan and his team continue to work on asthma and allergic epithelial barrier therapy, the role of protease inhibitor response in epithelial cell damage, nutritional allergy, allergic skin disease (atopic dermatitis, allergic urticaria, etc.) inflammatory processes of airway viruses, and lung airway modeling by bioengineering applications.
Between 2006-2007, part of his doctoral study was conducted at Harvard University, Brigham and Women Hospital. Çağatay Karaaslan, currently serving as a Prof. in the Department of Molecular Biology, served as a visiting researcher in Zurich University Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research, Davos, Switzerland for 6 months in 2017.
